hello,

my name is joshua garvey. i am 16 years old and i am in my third year at courtland school. last year i was not invited to the NSHS, but i want to join this year. i deserve to be a part of the society because i am a hard working student with a job and many after school activities.

as a student, i have a 3.5 GPA. as a spanish student, i have a 3.25 GPA. but i am more than just a student. i also have a job working at BB. At my job, i sell mobile phones. i deal with many different types of people and many different cultures, especially hispanic. also, i love to play sports. my favorite sport is soccer. not only is it my favorite sport, it is the favorite sport of the spanish world.

activities that i do in school also make up a big part of my life. as a leader, i am a part of the SCA. i work with many students and use much of my time to help out with the school. but, my biggest leadership role is being the vice-president of the TSA. it is a position that gives me many responsibilities. i must lead many other members and help my president in his many jobs. i am also a member of the spanish club. although i do not attend all of the various meetings, including parties, i go when i am not busy. i am not in a leadership position for this club, but i ran for president and i almost won.

aside from the many school-sponsered activities, i am a normal teenager. i do volunteer work when neccesary, and as i get near graduation time, the work will get more frequent. i like to have fun with my friends, play sports, watch movies and television, and do ordinary teenage stuff.

 i believe that the perfect member of this society should not only do well in spanish class, or school in general, but they should be willing to have a busy schedule and still maintain their great work. i believe that they should also respect spanish culture and have a great personality. i think that i have all of these traits and i think that i will make a great member.
